Greg Brandes was named interim dean
of Concord Law School in
October, 2011, after serving as dean of faculty for 12 years. During his tenure
as dean of faculty, he presided over the development of Concord’s
faculty and learning model, its systems of shared governance and peer
evaluation, its teaching and faculty resources,
and other innovations. His law
school teaching has included Contracts, Criminal Law, Torts, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence. His other
research and writing concerns teaching and learning, negotiation skills, and
leadership.
Dean Brandes joined Concord
as a professor in 1999 after 16 years in corporate and solo law practice and
business ventures in law-related education. He has lectured extensively in CLE
and other forums on negotiation, management, leadership skills, and business
formation, as well as contract, business, privacy, and employment law, and published Straight
Talk on Workplace Law (CareerTrack, 1997),
a commonsense guide to human resources compliance and risk management for small
businesses.
Dean Brandes was named Outstanding First-Year Professor in
2003, received the 2003 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, was recognized
by the graduating class of 2003 with its Outstanding Faculty Award, and received a
Law School Service Award in 2004. In addition to his membership in the bars of Illinois and Colorado,
Dean Brandes is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
