Kaplan University is pleased to announce the publication of our very first Academic Report: Kaplan University Academic Report: The Year in Review 2009-2010. The report, which will be produced annually, highlights our University’s academic priorities and accomplishments, and provides a wide range of information about our institution, academic programs, faculty, students, and achievement standards.

Among the highlights:

  • Kaplan University is dedicated to serving students who are not well served by traditional postsecondary education institutions. Most Kaplan University students are adult learners with families and students who work while pursuing higher education. Fifty-five percent are older than thirty. Seventy-five percent are women.
  •  Eighty-eight percent of our students enroll in online degree programs and twelve percent enroll in campus programs.
  • Kaplan University is a military-friendly school. Seventeen percent of our students are actively serving, veterans, or spouses of active-duty service members. In 2009, Kaplan University was awarded the Excellence in Online Programming by Military Advanced Education magazine.
  • Kaplan University is an outcomes-focused institution. Our associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees and certificate programs emphasize career-oriented curricula with a foundation of general education that emphasizes things employers need:  Arts and Humanities, Communication, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Mathematics, Research and Information, Science, Social Science, and Technology.
  • Kaplan University’s Course-Level Assessment is a unique framework that specifies and measures outcomes in nearly every course and program.
  •  Eighty percent of Kaplan University graduates surveyed said they would refer others to the University.
  • Ninety percent of the students surveyed reported that the education they received at Kaplan University was relevant to their current careers.
  • Kaplan University conferred 9,729 degrees in academic year 2009-2010.
