Betty Vandenbosch, PhD, is Dean of Students at Kaplan University. She previously served as Vice President of the Business and Information Technology programs. An award-winning educator and academic, Dr. Vandenbosch brings more than two decades of teaching, management, and curriculum development to this role. In her first year at Kaplan University, Betty Vandenbosch implemented a major redesign of the School's MBA program to better mirror the 21st-century business world. The curriculum prioritizes practical education and coursework in areas that reflect the needs of future employers. Innovative classes, in areas such as integrated skills and decision making, incorporate multiple disciplines from finance to organizational behavior.
Dr. Vandenbosch came to Kaplan University from Case Western Reserve University, where she served as the Associate Dean of Executive Education and External Relations at the Weatherhead School of Management. She filled several academic and leadership roles including teaching, curriculum development, and management of the executive education programs. Dr. Vandenbosch is a two-time winner of Weatherhead's Executive Education Teaching Award (2000, 2004) and the Masters Programs Teaching Award (2001).
She is also a prolific writer and researcher with a focus on the impact of information technology on individual and organizational performance. Her work has been published in The Journal of Management Studies, The Journal of Business Strategy , and The Journal of Information Technology. Dr. Vandenbosch is a three-time winner of the Administrative Sciences of Canada Association best paper award (1995, 1996, and 2000) and was recognized with a top-three paper award at the Academy of Management in 2000. Her book Designing Solutions for Your Business Problems (Jossey-Bass, 2003) details how to effectively solve business problems.
