At Kaplan University we believe in the potential of our military in the classroom and in their careers; we are committed to helping them achieve that potential. We are doing our part by offering special tuition rates that can be combined with tuition assistance and other military benefits, which may mean no out-of-pocket expenses for the majority of military students.*

 Tuition Discount

Special tuition rates for active-duty military personnel and veterans are designed so that military benefits, such as tuition assistance and the Montgomery GI Bill, will cover much, if not all, of the cost of a Kaplan University education. Discounts for spouses of active-duty military are also available.

Active-Duty Servicemembers
  • Undergraduate program tuition is $165 per quarter credit hour, 55 percent below our standard costs.
  • Graduate program tuition is discounted by 15 to 22 percent, depending on your choice of program.

Veterans
  • Undergraduate program tuition is $230 per quarter credit hour, 38 percent below our standard costs.
  • Kaplan University participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program for all our graduate programs. Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, eligible veterans may receive additional funds from the VA to match Kaplan University’s tuition reduction. Between 94 percent and 100 percent of our graduate degrees’ tuition and fees may be covered through the program.

For veterans that are not eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program, Kaplan University will still reduce tuition by $45.50 to $71 per credit, depending on your program of choice.

Military Spouses
Spouses of active-duty servicemembers receive a 10 percent discount on the current undergraduate and graduate tuition rates.

Tuition Assistance and Other Military Benefits

Tuition Assistance
Military tuition assistance may pay up to $165 per quarter credit hour for a maximum of $4,500 per year. If you wish to take more than four to five courses per year, eligible servicemembers could use top-up benefits from the GI Bill to cover the balance.*

Military tuition assistance is provided by a government agency and pays a portion of your tuition, fees, and/or required textbooks. The agency will receive a bill directly from the University and send the payment directly to the University (NOT to you, the student). Third-party billing plans are available if:
  • You are currently an active-duty servicemember or a civilian government contract employee
  • You are currently eligible for benefits under Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Chapter 31 only)

For more information on tuition assistance opportunities for your specific branch of service, visit one of the following websites:

Montgomery GI Bill
Montgomery GI Bill benefits provide up to $1,368 per month depending on how many courses are taken. Our reduced tuition rates are structured so that these benefits could cover most Kaplan University tuition and fees.*

Post-9/11 GI Bill
The Post-9/11 GI Bill's tuition and fee benefits are derived from the highest in-state tuition and fee rates for a public institution in a given state. For online schools, the rate is based on the state in which the school is located, not your state of residence. For students attending Kaplan University (which falls under Florida maximums), the top tuition rate identified by the VA is $295 per credit. This means that eligible veterans who are entitled to 80 percent to 100 percent of the Post-9/11 GI Bill would be able to fund all undergraduate tuition costs. Kaplan University waives all technology fees for military students, and textbooks for undergraduate programs are provided at no additional cost. Not all courses require textbooks; some use electronic instructional materials.

Yellow Ribbon Program
Kaplan University participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program for graduate programs. The Yellow Ribbon Program provides matching funds from the VA to cover tuition and fees that are above the maximum rate determined by each state. Between 94 percent and 100 percent of tuition and fees may be covered through the Yellow Ribbon Program, depending on your choice of degree program.

Please note Kaplan University's undergraduate tuition is covered within the state maximum allowance, so funds provided by the Yellow Ribbon Program are not necessary for undergraduate degree programs.

Federal Student Aid
Federal student aid for military students not eligible for military tuition assistance or GI Bill benefits may be available to those who qualify. Kaplan University can help determine if you are eligible for federal financial aid, including grants and loan programs.
